Tips for our Britton and The Q Indy Idol contestants

Now that the auditions are over,  it is game time. This is where things get really interesting!  Here are some things for our lucky contestants to keep in mind:

1) Make sure you get your songs in on time. Remember, if you are competing at Britton your songs are due to the p3productions@att.net address by 3:00 on Monday (IE: your 90’s songs should already be submitted), and The Q contestants have until 3:00 on Friday. This gives us time to get everything typed up and organized.

2) Songs are taken on a first come first served basis, and only one person can sing a song in a night. So lets say 2 of you want to sing “Bring Me to Life.” The person who submits it first gets to sing it. If you request a song someone else has already claimed, you will be asked to choose another.

3) If you choose a song we do not have, we will attempt to find it for you. Please be aware that not ALL songs (even some popular ones) are available on karaoke. If we can find it, we will gladly get it for you. If we cannot, you will need to pick another song.

4) I know it seems like it is really easy for us to “just download” a song on the spot. Okay…sometimes it is. However, we will not be doing this for the contest. We will not be doing any same night downloads or song switching!

5) In auditions, only the judges votes counted. Now it is the judges PLUS the audience vote. Each audience member gets a slip with all the singers on it. They have to vote for 3 people, or the ballot is discarded. This means you want to have the most people voting for you. Bring your friends, family, and co-workers to cheer you on. This is a huge part of the contest!

6) Dress the part. In auditions, as long as you didn’t look like a hobo, everyone more or less recieved the same appearance points. Now with the theme weeks this changes. If you do not dress up (or the part) at all, you will lose points. If you dress up but it doesn’t match the theme or the artist, you can also lose points. I’m just saying if you do a song by The Cure, it might be a little much to dress like Robert Smith (although it would be awesome if you did), but you want to at least get the look somewhat right.

7) Relax, have fun, and make some great friends along the way!
